| Biography: | Andrew Finstuen is the Director of the Honors College and an Associate Professor in the Department of History. Prior to his arrival at Boise State University, Finstuen directed the International Honors Program at Pacific Lutheran University, served as a Lilly Fellow in Humanities and History in the Honors College at Valparaiso University, and was the Assistant Director of the Boisi Center for Religion and American Public Life at Boston College.Finstuen teaches courses in modern American history, the history of American Christianity, and the history of genocide and mass killing. His first book, Original Sin and Everyday Protestants: The Theology of Reinhold Niebuhr, Billy Graham, and Paul Tillich in an Age of Anxiety (University of North Carolina Press, 2009) won the 2010 American Society of Church History’s Brewer Prize. His work has also appeared in Books and Culture, the Christian Century, and PBS’s Religion and Ethics Newsweekly. |

| Biography: | Annal Frenz serves as the Academic Advisor of the Honors College, and she is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Chicago. She brings a diverse background to the College from both the academic and non-academic worlds. After completing her B.S. in History at Portland State University, Frenz worked for some years in international business. She returned to academia when she entered graduate school at the University of Chicago, where she also taught writing and worked as an Assistant Director of the Writing Program.Frenz comes to Boise State from Pacific Lutheran University where she was a visiting professor in the Department of Religion, teaching a variety of courses on religions of the ancient Mediterranean including early Christianity, Greek and Roman polytheism, and Zoroastrianism. Prior to PLU, she also taught courses at the University of Chicago in the First Year Humanities Core that ranged from ancient Greek thought to modern cultural studies. She is currently completing her Ph.D. dissertation, Construing Virginity: Greco-Roman Ideologies of a Sexual Boundary. |

| Biography: | Chris Hyer serves as the Activities Coordinator for the Honors College. Hyer holds a B.S. in Physical Education from Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina and an M.S. from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in Recreation Administration. Before coming to the Honors College, he was a Resident Director for University Housing at Boise State.In his five years as the Activities Coordinator, Hyer has increased co-curricular programming, which has provided for a more dynamic and holistic Honors educational experience. His work in student leadership development, outdoor education, and off-campus Honors trips receives consistent praise from Honors students. In addition, Hyer is the official advisor to the Honors Student Association. Hyer has presented at various regional conferences on Student Engagement and Involvement, and was the recipient of Boise State’s 2008 Advisor of the Year Award.
Hyer works collaboratively across campus and has served on the Campus Recreation Advisory Board, the Leadership Summit Committee, Applied Leadership Program, the Virtual Community Committee, Ambassadors to Health Program, numerous search committees, and the Campus Read Committee. He is also the advisor for the Paintball Club, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and the Sporting Arms Club. |

| Biography: | Christen Best works as the Management Assistant for the Honors College. Best joined the Honors College at Boise State University in June 2011 after seven years serving as an administrative assistant at Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC), most recently as the Administrative Assistant II to the Dean of Community Programs. Best graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho with a B.A.S. in Early Childhood Development and Business Administration Minor. She also holds an A.A.S. in Architecture Technology from Brigham Young University–Idaho in Rexburg. While at LCSC, she was honored with the National Excellence in Leadership Award from ΣΛΠ National Society of Leadership & Success, of which she is a Lifetime Society Presidential Member. Best is highly involved in serving her community; from October 2006 to May 2010 she was an active member and board member of the LCSC CKI Club. In 2009 Best was awarded the 2009 Pacific Northwest CKI Chairperson of the Year for her work with Lewiston’s annual TeenPower program. Since relocating to Boise, Best has volunteered many hours with the Assistance League of Boise and has participated in several community volunteer activities. |
